Suarez made a perfect striker's run, following the ball after a Julian Gressel shot was tipped wide. His trailing run saw him capitalize on the loose ball and he tucked it home in clean fashion. The strike was subject to a lengthy VAR review, but after the referee team looked it over, they allowed the Herons their first of the day.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
The Herons conceded two early first-half goals to the Saudi Pro League side, but they responded well before the half-time break. After Suarez opened the scoring for the MLS side, Lionel Messi seemingly added a another, but the Uruguayan was offside in the buildup to the Argentine's goal.
Despite the opener from the Uruguayan, it proved to not be enough, as the Herons fell 4-3 to Al Hilal in their opening game of the Riyadh Cup.
